Jackson was born 1958 in Gary, Indiana to a very big family. He has three
sisters and five brothers. His parents, mother Katherine and father Joe
were very musical. Katherine played the clarinet and Joe had his own band.
The brothers made a band called The Jackson 5. The band was born when the
brothers played Joeīs guitar. First Joe was angry, but he realized that
the boys can really play. Michaelīs first "performance" was in a local
mall. He was 5 years old then. Soon The Jackson 5 made a contract with the
record company called Motown Records. Their first record was called Diana
Ross Presents The Jackson 5. The first nation-wide released single was I
Want You Back, which sold 2 million copies and topped the charts. Other
well-known Jackson 5 songs were for example ABC and Iīll Be There. A
little later Michael recorded some solo songs like Ben. After The Jackson
5 had worked a while for Motown they wanted to get more charge on their
bandīs business. So they left Motown and went to Epic. Jermaine left the
band. Motown probhited the use of their name The Jackson 5. So the band
changed their name to The Jacksons. They played together for a long time,
but during The Victory Tour the brothers argued. Michael even left the
shoot of their video Torture. So Victory Tour was The Jacksonsī last tour.
The band "broke down". In 1979 Michael started co-operating with Quincy
Jones and released a solo album called Off The Wall, which sold 6 million
copies in the US. The album contained sonds like Donīt Stop ītill You Get
Enough and Rock With You.
After Off The Wall in the year 1982 Michael
released his Megasuccess Thriller. It sold over 44 million copies and
broke all the records. Thriller won for example eight Grammys and seven
American Music Awards. There were great music videos made from Thriller,
such as Beat It and Billie Jean. After those Michaelīs record company
didnīt give money to make a new video. So Michael used his own money to
make a 14-minute horrorfilm called Thriller. Thriller has said to be the
best music video ever. Michael also did a homevideo about Thriller. It was
called The Making Of Thriller and it was the biggest selling homevideo
that year.
In 1987 Michael released his next solo album Bad. He made a
few videos from it, for example Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Dirty Diana
and Smooth Criminal.
This time Michael made a whole evening movie
called Moonwalker. The story is about how a fat man is going to give drugs
to children and how Michael stops it. Michael also did a biography called
Moonwalker, too. And he went on tour. The Bad Tour was Michaelīs first
solo tour.
His next album came out in the year 1991 and it was called
Dangerous. It contained songs like Black Or White and Heal The
World.
There were many videos made from Dangerous, such as Black Or
White, Jam and Who Is It. Who Is It was used on Pepsi commercials, too. At
that time Michael started The Dangerous Tour, but it was cancelled because
of the allegations. Michael won the case.
During The Dangerous Tour he
composed many of his new albumīs songs, like Stranger In Moscow. At this
time Michael started his relationship with Lisa-Marie Presley. Michael
married Lisa-Marie soon.
The double album History: Past, Present And
Future Book 1 came out in 1995. The first CD was full of the old hits like
Billie Jean and the second CD was completely new. It contained songs like
Scream, duet with Janet. There were, again, many videos made from History,
like Scream (that cost 7-9 million $) and They Donīt Care About Us (there
were two versions of TDCAU: a prison version that was censored in the US
and a street version shot in Rio De Janeiro). History also contained
Childhood, the theme from Free Willy 2. Many words from History are about
injustice and police brutality. Michaelīs marriage with Lisa-Marie didnīt
last long and soon after the divorce he married Debbie Rowe - the mother
of his baby son, Prince Michael Junior.
Michael started his second full
world tour, HIStory Tour in 1996. It visited Finland in 24th and 26th of
August 1997. Pictures of Prince were shown in the concert.
Soon after
History (in the year 1996) came out Blood On The Dancefloor: History In
The MIx, which contained new songs and remixes from the History album.
BOTDF was made especially for the dance audience. At that time Michael
made his new movie, Ghosts. In this movie Michael playes a freak, that
other people from the same village wants to kick out from the village.
Well, the video has a happy ending. Michael playes 5 or 6 characters in
this video. Soon after Ghosts it was announced that Prince Michael Junior
is going to have a little sister. Paris Michael Katherine was born early
in the 1998.
